Player Benefits
This is a letter sent to us from a players parent attending in 2009.

Coach Mason,

I write to thank you for an exceptional tournament experience. A little more than a week ago, my daughter, McKenna, participated in your Arsenal Indoor College Search tournament with her ODP team; Iowa ‘92G ODP.

The competition was very good. Our team took on your Arsenal 92-93 team, the KC Comets and the St Louis Scott Gallagher. All of which had some outstanding soccer athletes. Watching was a pleasure for any soccer fan.

As much fun as the competition was, the thing that impressed me the most was the number of college coaches in attendance. I counted no less than 28 on the team sidelines at McKenna’s first match and there were so many more on the observation deck and the parent sidelines. There were fewer at her last match on Sunday, but even then there was a baker’s dozen on the team sidelines. The fact that there was only one field, thus only one match for the coaches to watch at any moment, I have to believe provided them the opportunity to see and focus on individual players they may not ordinarily watch at other events.

Over the last few years, McKenna, a High School junior, has participated with both her club team and ODP team in a number of college search tournaments. In all these other events, the largest number of college coaches I’ve ever seen watch a match, is less than five. The past two years she’s also been fortunate to play in the Iowa Girls High School soccer finals, where nearly a dozen players participating had already signed D-1 commitments. Yet there was no more than ten college programs represented at either final.

I say all this to reinforce the benefits of your event. The timing, the facilities, the organization have all provided an exceptional experience and exposure to college coaches.

To further reinforce these benefits, I offer the following: Prior to the event, McKenna reviewed the list of coaches that were likely to attend your tournament. Based on her career objectives, she isolated five college soccer programs that met her academic objectives and invited them to watch her participate in your event. In just over a week, all five have contacted her about exploring opportunities, but more exciting for McKenna is that she’s also received personalized messages from seven other institutions, whose coaches were in attendance. 12 contacts in eight days far surpass the zero contacts in six events over the last two and a half years.

Thank you and the rest of the Arsenal team for hosting such an outstanding event..

Sincerely,

Terry
